Twitmart uses a "classified ads" model, in which items (listings/postings or ads) are grouped ("classified") by category. An ad may appear in search results across multiple categories. However, an ad belongs to exactly ONE primary category.

Each category has a corresponding Twitter "hashtag". Categories are specified in Tweets as a Twitter "hashtag". In this sense, Twitmart uses Twitter like a database where one of the columns of the database is the hashtag, representing the ONE primary category. If the Tweet contains additional hasgtags these represent secondary categories.

A post will only appear as a "featured item" in the primary category.
